Learn about our motivation

“It didn’t happen overnight. Discover our story, beginning with a small window.”
For us, it all began with that small window. The year was 2000, and the world was changing with the dizzying winds of digitalization brought by the millennium. It was unthinkable for cinema to remain untouched by this transformation. Our experience pushed us toward this field, compelling us to learn and take professional steps. However, accessing the necessary software for the digital cinema infrastructure was nearly impossible back then; the options we could find after long efforts were far beyond our means. All we could manage at the time was a simple website, which I coded with great excitement alongside my two sons, then aged 11 and 9. My wife, as always, was right there with us as the logistical hero of this dream.
Though we continued to produce various family-made films over the years, that grand dream of digital cinema always felt just out of reach. We followed developments in the field closely and with great passion. Around 2010, a concept began to mature in our minds: “midi cinema.” We planted the first seeds of this idea with our festival film from that period, “Kayıp Zaman” (Lost Time). Unconventionally, we opted for a shorter 80-minute format. We were offering a multi-layered perspective on lost time, the rapidly changing world, and the future of cinema. That film was a precursor to what we are building today. It was in those days that we discovered the future of cinema could be classified into four categories—mini, short, midi, and maxi film—and we registered the domain “midicinema.com” as the most fitting expression of this vision.
After years of research, preparations, and projects, our vision, aided by artificial intelligence, finally came to fruition as we approached 2025. We believed we could at last bring this dream to life with our own resources.
Our core vision is to build an ecosystem, in collaboration with independent filmmakers, that tells universal human stories. Why an ecosystem? Because we want to offer a sustainable solution to the challenges that short and medium-length films face in generating revenue. Our goal is not to take a slice from the industry’s existing pie. On the contrary, it is to bake a fresh, delicious pie to share with the international creative community—a community often left discouraged and unmotivated. Combined with the accessibility brought by digitalization, this model creates an entirely new value proposition for both creators and consumers.
The saying “the world is a small village” is a reality we must now take seriously. You, who have patiently read this far, are a part of our family to us, no matter where you are in the world. We would be honored to see you as our audience, our production partner, and our representative. If you wish to continue on this journey with us, we would be delighted to hear from you through our contact information.
Let’s grow this story together.
P.S. We will soon be sharing a more detailed article explaining how our ecosystem works, as well as our press release themed “Filmmakers, Out!”, which calls the world’s filmmakers to action. Be well…
