“I feel a second chance”

Hayden Panettiere spoke about his past struggles with drug and alcohol addiction
32-year-old American actress Hayden Panettiere, best known for her character Claire Bennet on TV’s Heroes, opened up for the first time about her secret drug and alcohol addiction that nearly took her career and life.
“I was in a cycle of self-destruction,” says the actress. “I was on top of the world and I destroyed it,” according to the news in People.
Panettiere said he had a devastating battle with addiction and postpartum depression and said he thought he’d hit rock bottom, but then he discovered the trapdoors that opened.
The actress, who has a 7-year-old daughter named Kaya from her ex-lover Wladimir Klitschko, has not been involved in any active project in the last 5 years.
“I FEEL IT AS A SECOND CHANCE”
“I put a lot of work into myself and had to be willing to be incredibly honest,” says the actress, who has endured both trauma and inpatient treatment over the past year.
Panettiere recovered and returned to the set to reprise the character of Kirby Reed in “Scream” and also began collaborating with Hoplon International, a charity fundraiser for Ukraine.
“It wasn’t easy and I’ve had a lot of ups and downs,” Panettiere said of her journey to sobriety and happiness. But I don’t regret even the ugliest things that have happened to me. “I feel incredibly successful and like I have a second chance.”
