Sanctions and reactions are growing after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Like an avalanche, it gets bigger as it progresses. The Cannes Film Festival reported that it banned the Russian delegation from participating in the 2022 festival unless the war in Ukraine ended.
In the statement of the festival committee, it was stated that only if the war ends in an acceptable way for the Ukrainian people, the Russian delegation will be allowed to participate in the festival.
According to the information shared with the world press, the festival organizers also congratulated the courage of the Russians who protested Moscow’s occupation of Ukraine and its violence. “The festival, which started in 1939 by resisting fascism and the Nazi dictatorship, will always be on the air of the artists and will condemn violence, oppression and injustice,” said the committee.
